Tour Guide: Hey there, Trooper! Welcome to the exhibit room called "Open Sesame"! I'm your tour guide. If you have any questions, big or small, feel free to ask me!
Young Trooper: Hi, Mister Tour Guide! Wow, what's this board? It's so red! And why are there so many pins lined up in it?
Tour Guide: Here, give it a try. Just lightly press your hand on it. Remember to be gentle, the way you would treat a friend. Don't slap it or thump it!
Young Trooper: Wow! The shape of my hand appeared in it! It looks like a sculpture!
Tour Guide: That's the magic of pin art! When you press your hand on it, each pin goes in with the same amount as the force you put on it. If you press hard, it goes in a lot. If you press lightly, it only goes in a little. When you combine the positions of all the pins, it's like they're doing a 3D scan for you!
Young Trooper: So, by pressing on it, it's like you're "printing"!
Tour Guide: That's right! Have you ever played in the sand? If you walk on wet sand, you leave your footprints in it, don't you? Or in winter, if you press down on a thick blanket, you leave your shape in it. That's how a pin art board works too. When you press down on one part of it, that part goes in, and another comes out. That makes the light and shadows look different on it, and our eyes can see the outlines of the shapes.
Young Trooper: Hey! That reminds me. One time when I was playing with clay, I also made a print of my hand!
Tour Guide: Not bad! That's a good association, Trooper! You can use this board to print more than just your hand. You can print any part of your body! Want to give it a try?
Young Trooper: Sure! I'm going to do a really cool move!
